Flip Throw-in Tutorial

 

A flip throw-in helps you to throw the ball further. Yes, soccer football rules allow this. The most famous flip throw-in was performed by Brazilian Leah Lynn Fortune in FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in 2008, and the flip-throw in led to a goal.

 

 

In order to progress fast, it would be good to be familiar with flip already. However, it is not necessary. After doing the preparing progressions, you should have all it takes to perform flip throw-in and the rest is mostly about courage.

The father of flip throw-ins is Estonian football player Risto Kallaste, who was known of his ability to surprise the opponent with long throw-ins. The possibility of flip throw-in at any time created unpredictability to the game and forced the opponent to prepare for multiple different scenarios when Kallaste had a ball in his hands.

 

 

The idea of flip throw-in was made up by Estonian coach Uno Piir, who had an idea of an tactic based on long flip throw-ins and asked the players to try doing flip throw-in. Many players tried and Kallaste performed the best, so he became the player who turned throw-ins into scoring chances that were as dangerous as corner kicks or free kicks.

5 times 3 second handstands

Instructions
Make sure that all your joints are vertically in line, on top of each other. It is important that the repetitions are in control. You probably want to check out some tips in Next Level App’s Handstand tutorial.

Handstand with ball

Goal
3 times 1 second handstands for each arm

Instructions
Place football under your hand. This enhances your motorics of your body, which is not used to standing on a ball upside down.

Getting up with ball in hands

Goal
3 succesful repetitions in row

Instructions
This is something you can already, but at this level you should be able to decrease the role of your arms while performing the move. We can pretty much disable your arms by placing a football in your hands. This teaches you to use your body to create spin and momentum.

Head flip

Goal
3 succesful repetitions in row

Instructions
It is recommended to be able to complete Headstand tutorial before trying this progression in order to fall down in case of failure. Use your already existing skills to utilize the spin. Remember to have your hands on the ground way before your head – otherwise it will hurt.
